Sec 1 IHG - a success!

The Secondary 1 Inter-House Games was conducted on the 15th - 16th May and I am glad to say that it was a great success.

There was great participation from the pupils and many House teams showed great competitive spirit and sportsmanship. It was very good to see them play within the rules, shaking hands out of respect, and giving their all.

In many ways, this IHG is much bigger than what we have ever done before. A staggering 4 sports was competed over 2 arduous days.

The Peer Leaders played a key role in executing this IHG, wearing many hats at one go - umpire, score-keeper, timekeeper, crowd control, cheerleader.

I knew it was never going to be a piece of cake. Managing big groups of pupils is always a challenge but I know that the Peer Leaders can always be counted on to do the job.

Though it was really tiring, challenging and even frustrating, I hope that the IHG has taught you many things about sports event management, engaging people's attention, using effective means to communicate, and furthering the spirit of sport and fair play in Fajar.

This is because, as a Peer Leader, one of your sacred missions is to promote sportsmanship, a sporty spirit, and a love for adventure and the outdoors in Fajar.

So every time we have the IHG, the Peer Leaders must always take the lead, and ensure that a good example is set to the junior Fajarians and even your peers, in teaching fair play and having due respect to the sport, to the opponents, and to the umpire.

So then, it leaves me now to thank the Teachers and Peer Leaders who have helped, in one way or another, to make the IHG Sec 1 a success:

Hanafi, Azmeran, Nuraini, Seraphina, Nizam, Sebastian, Amelea, Pei Shi, Fransisca, Amirah, Cai Ling, Atiqah, Kamila, Zubaidah, Azfar, Syafiqah, Ming Hui, Hanisah, Siti Hawa, Zi Ting, Lim Hui, Finah, Liyana, Khairudy & Pei Jun; Mr Maran, Ms Tan, Mr Kelvin Ong, Ms Seah, Ms Chia, Mr Eugene Seow, Mr Vela & Ms Jocelyn
